Just as a way of providing an idea for your vacations, we will describe what could be considered a week full of tours at each season, without any specific details such as rates, for example, as such matter would vary according to the operators of each activity. However, many of these tours may be done on your own. In case you need further details or even wish to make a tour reservation, we could make all arrangements before your trip with the exact information corresponding to each season and operator. It will be a pleasure for us.
The summer is beautiful, warm during the day and fresh in the evening. It gets dark at about 9.30pm and the beach is not the only option in a place like Bariloche.
First day: tour by car, bus or any hired transportation around Circuito Chico. It may be done during half a day if you stop only at the main points or during the entire day if you resolve to stop at a beach or go hiking. The tour goes along Bustillo Avenue, which borders Lake Nahuel Huapi, and passes by Puerto Pañuelo and Hotel Llao Llao, the Llao Llao National Park forest, Bahía López at the foot of Mount López, Colonia Suiza -which is accessed through a 10-minute detour from Bustillo Avenue- the panoramic vantage point, Lakes Moreno Este and Oeste, El Trébol Lagoon, and other destinations.
Second day: all-day lake tour to Isla Victoria and Bosque de Arrayanes, by catamaran or boat from Puerto Pañuelo, with a first stop on the island and one second stop on the shore of Neuquén to go around the myrtle woodland in Bosque de Arrayanes. Return to Puerto Pañuelo. This tour is also done in the winter, just like the lake tour to Puerto Blest (with a ride to Lake Frías or Cascada los Alerces, on the Chilean border).
Third day: chairlift ascent to some of the mounts (Mount Catedral, Mount Otto, Mount Campanario) or else, hiking tour. Should this activity take only half a day, you may visit Mount Leones and its caves.
Fourth day: car ride to Mount Tronador, there are restricted ascent and descent times, as this is a one-way road. There is an optional detour to Los Alerces Cascade. Following across Mount Tronador, the first tourist resort is reached, where visitors may see a glacier known as “ventisquero Negro”. Afterwards, a second stop called “Pampa Linda” is reached. The cracking of Mount Tronador may be heard at this spot and visitors may watch its rocky walls. From that point onwards, there is on-foot access only. All this is under the control of Gendarmería (the border police force) and the roads are safe in the summer. This circuit is closed in the winter.
Fifth day: Seven-lake road, passing by Villa La Angostura, San Martín de los Andes, “Valle Encantado” (the Enchanted Valley)… This is a beautiful tour that will take approximately 12 hours. Another choice would be to take the South Road to El Bolsón and Lago Puelo (this is also an all-day tour).
Sixth day: there is a wide range of summer activities from natural harmonious tours such as hiking along some mountain trail, a peaceful day on the beach or a historical ride on the steam locomotive, to something extreme such as river rafting, paragliding, hiring a sailing boat, spending one day fishing, doing zip-lining, horseback riding, etc. All this is organized and carried out by qualified staff. The variety of the sceneries and the love for outdoor activities have turned Bariloche into a place with various offers still unknown for many people.
In the winter, Bariloche is a synonym for SKI. The choice of taking an entire ski week at Mount Catedral is always present if you love this sport. But there is a wide range of possibilities:
First day: tell your friends you have been skiing. Even the most inexperienced people may spend one day taking ski lessons and see if they like it and then decide whether to hire more days at the ski resort. There is plenty of lessons, rates, everything at reach. Besides all the options we can offer, the ski resort has its own website for you to see www.catedralaltapatagonia.com.
This tour is also done in the winter, just like the lake tour to Puerto Blest (with a ride to Lake Frías, on the Chilean border).
Third day: ascent to Mount López on a 4WD to practice snow activities. You may even choose to have dinner at the shelter and go for night hiking tours.
Fourth day: quiet renewing ride on the steam locomotive towards the Patagonian steppe. Only two days a week.
Fifth day: guided hiking tour in the snow to mountain refuges practicing snowshoeing or cross-country ski.
Sixth day: the Seven-lake road passing by Villa La Angostura, San Martín de los Andes, “Valle Encantado” (the Enchanted Valley) is an alternative, though sometimes it is closed due to snowfalls. Taking the chairlift up Mounts Catedral, Otto or Campanario as a non-skier is another option. Likewise, visitors may choose to visit the caves of Mount Leones in the outskirts of Bariloche or taking the South Road to El Bolsón and Lago Puelo. Among many other things, the combination of sceneries, snow, sports and chocolate is infinite.
